A man in McKinney was arrested after authorities said he fired a shotgun toward a McKinney police officer responding to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex late Friday night.According to a press release from the department, McKinney officers were called to the Gray Branch Apartments in the 1700 block of North Ridge Road at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday after receiving multiple 911 dispatch calls reporting shots fired.25-year-old Alexis Calderon fired a shotgun in the direction of a responding officer before retreating into an apartment. Officers established a perimeter and communicated with Calderon, who surrendered a short time later without further incident.According to police, the detectives later executed a search warrant at the apartment and recovered multiple firearms, ammunition and spent shell casing.Calderon was booked into the Collin County Detention Facility on a charge of aggravated assault against a public servant, a first-degree felony. Four people are recovering after a drive-by shooting at an apartment complex in Dallas overnight.The shooting happened just before 10 a.m. at the Estelle Village Apartments on Highland Hills Drive.Police said the gunfire came from inside a car, and that the four suspects were all wearing masks.Three of the shooting victims have serious injuries. The fourth was grazed by a bullet. All are expected to survive.There’s no word yet on what prompted the shooting.Police also haven’t released a description of the suspects or said whether they know who they are looking for.No one has been arrested yet.

Defense attorneys have requested a new trial for Tanner Horner, the former delivery driver sentenced to death for the murder of 7-year-old Athena Strand in Wise County.Tanner Horner TrialAttorneys claim some key witnesses refused to testify because of the media coverage of the trial. They said it made it impossible for Horner to get a fair trial.A judge agreed to move Horner’s initial trial to Tarrant County because of the attention the case had gathered on social media.The Wise County District Attorney and state prosecutor requested the motion be denied, saying there is no rule barring media coverage of court cases.A judge is expected to rule on the request in the next few days.
