Investigators from the Arlington Police Department and the FBI Dallas Field Office have made an arrest in connection to a 2012 cold case murder in Arlington.2012 Arlington murder arrestPublic records show Mayra Velasquez was arrested on July 16. Velasquez has been charged with capital murder in connection to a Jan. 2012 incident. Public records show that Velasquez is a real estate agent with Pure Realtors, LLC. Her license is currently still active. Pure Realtors did not respond to FOX 4's request for comment.She is being held without bond.Arlington Police and the FBI Dallas Field Office confirmed Velasquez had been arrested in connection to the 2012 murder of 32-year-old Irasema Chavez.Chavez was found dead at her apartment in the 2700 block of S. Collins Street on Jan. 20, 2012. She had been stabbed 100 times.In 2012, Arlington Police released surveillance footage from the night before Chavez's murder to help identify a person seen entering the apartment, but were unable to identify

Texas man arrested after firing shotgun at McKinney police officer

A man in McKinney was arrested after authorities said he fired a shotgun toward a McKinney police officer responding to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex late Friday night.According to a press release from the department, McKinney officers were called to the Gray Branch Apartments in the 1700 block of North Ridge Road at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday after receiving multiple 911 dispatch calls reporting shots fired.25-year-old Alexis Calderon fired a shotgun in the direction of a responding officer before retreating into an apartment. Officers established a perimeter and communicated with Calderon, who surrendered a short time later without further incident.According to police, the detectives later executed a search warrant at the apartment and recovered multiple firearms, ammunition and spent shell casing.Calderon was booked into the Collin County Detention Facility on a charge of aggravated assault against a public servant, a first-degree felony. Saginaw man pleads guilty for role in fatal fentanyl overdose

A Saginaw man will spend years in federal prison for selling fentanyl-laced pills that lead to a fatal overdose.Fentanyl overdose sentencing38-year-old Kevin Chase McCauley pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl.He was sentenced to 17 years in prison by U.S. District Judge Richard A. Schell on July 20.On March 8, 2023, the Denton County Sheriff's Office responded to the death of an individual on Stonecrest Road in Argyle.An investigation revealed McCauley sold the victim fentanyl-laced counterfeit hydrocodone pills, which they later overdosed on.McCauley's case is part of a Homeland Security Task Force initiative titled Protecting the American People Against Invasion.The initiative's goal is to eliminate criminal cartels, foreign gangs, transnational criminal organizations, and human smuggling and trafficking rings operating in the United States.
