Irving police shot and wounded a woman who authorities said was armed with a knife and advancing toward officers during a domestic disturbance call on Friday evening.Irving police were called around 5:50 p.m. to the 300 block of Rolston Road, as officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman standing in the street with a knife and making threats. Officers gave her verbal commands, but she did not comply and continued moving toward them.One officer used a less-lethal weapon, police said, but it did not stop the woman. A second officer then fired their duty weapon, striking her.Officers provided aid until Irving firefighters arrived and took the woman to a local hospital. No officers were injured.Irving police will conduct criminal and administrative investigations, as is standard after an officer-involved shooting. The Dallas County Public Integrity Unit will also conduct a separate investigation.

A man is dead and another is injured after a shooting in the West Oak Cliff area of Dallas.The shooting happened early Friday morning at an apartment complex on South Cockrell Hill Road.Police said other residents in the complex called 911 after hearing some type of altercation and then gunfire.When police arrived around 1:30 a.m., they found a man dead on a staircase with gunshot wounds.As officers worked the scene, another man was dropped off at a nearby hospital with critical injuries.An investigation is underway as police work to determine a motive and identify the shooter or shooters.There’s no word yet on the identity of those involved.
