Arlington cold case murder suspect released from jail

A North Texas real estate agent charged in a cold case murder has been was released from jail on bond.Arlington Cold Case MurderMayra Velasquez, who is charged with capital murder, was released on Wednesday morning after posting her $450,000 bond.Her attorney said she’ll wear an ankle monitor and must remain in Dallas or Tarrant counties while awaiting trial.Bree West, an attorney who is not affiliated with the case, explained that the judge in the case made a decision to set bond while weighing several factors in the 14-year-old case."The reality is the judge has to kind of weigh all of the factors that need to be considered. The safety of the community, obviously, is a huge one. The citizen accused has constitutional rights as well. 4 massage parlors closed after Denton County Sheriff's Office investigation

Multiple massage parlors in North Texas were shut down after an investigation into human trafficking activities.Massage parlor closuresFrom June 23–26, the Denton County Sheriff's Office Human Trafficking Unit and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation conducted licensing inspections at 18 massage parlors in Denton County.The investigation was part of an effort to combat human trafficking and related criminal activity believed to be happening at the parlors.Four massage parlors were closed on the day of inspection. Six more had evidence documents that initiated administrative closure procedures for serious violations by TDLR.Evidence gathered during inspections led to two individuals being detained for immigration status violations, and five aggravated promotion of prostitution cases initiated.Police departments from Lewisville, Carrollton, Flower Mound and The Colony assisted in the investigation.
