Tinsel brings safe art to West Dallas

A quirky Safe Art drive through event will take place December 18-19 at the West Dallas Fabrication Yard and Tin District near Trinity Groves.

Twelve murals based on the Twelve Days of Christmas underscore the creativity and culture of West Dallas and go far beyond just looking at Christmas lights. The event combines original art, technology and music into an unforgettable experience.

The 12 artists featured include some of the most prolific painters and performers in DFW, including the genre-defying musician and artist Sam Lao, the painter and muralist Mariell Guzman, the award-winning artist and graffiti artist Tre Wilder, and the contemporary artist Hatziel Flores.

Tinsel starts at the corner of Sylvan Avenue and Muncie Avenue. The participants will slowly meander through the laser forest, keeping an eye on each mural and transporting them into the enchanting surroundings.

Tickets are not required; To participate, just show up in a car and enjoy. Then make it a full night out by heading to a Trinity Groves restaurant, where you can enjoy 10 percent off food and drink, as well as BOGO Holiday Cake Slices in the Cake Bar. Just mention “tinsel” for the discount.

Tinsel takes place on December 18th and 19th from 6.30pm to 10pm. For more information about the event, including artist bios, visit TinselDallas.
