Tasty details emerge on restaurants, bars coming to The Village Dallas
Details of the ambitious restaurants at the factories of The Village Dallas, the huge residential community in the middle of Dallas that initiated a mixed-use lifestyle project of dining and entertainment, are gradually emerging.
The Village began a major renovation in 2017, which included refurbishing the residential units and upgrading the common areas including community parks and a new fitness center.
They also added a boutique hotel and collection of restaurants and shops that are slated to open in early 2021, according to The Village Dallas. The majority will open in January or February.
Here’s what they’re working on:
The boutique hotel is small with 38 rooms, carefully designed amenities, as well as a hall for 150 people and several outdoor parks for weddings and other events due to open in January 2021. The hotel will contain two on-site restaurants:
- anise. The picturesque wine and food bar on the ground floor of the hotel as an extension of the lobby offers Mediterranean cuisine with a selection of light ingredients, cheese and olive boards and plates that can be shared. The emphasis is on wine, including an eclectic wine list, as well as specialties such as wine flights, sampling, and tasting events.
- La Mina. Hidden behind the hotel’s garden is this hip, sociable, underground Mexican Cantina & Speakeasy that serves authentic Mexican comfort food with a large collection of agave spirits. In the entrance you have a separate flower shop with Mexican ceramics and candles. You will also have a large outside deck with late night hours. The menu will be inspired by several regions of Mexico, but also Tex-Mex. There are homemade corn tortillas, guacamole, craft magaritas, and beer.
Buzz & Bustle
The neighborhood cafe is a place to relax, sip, chat and work on your day-to-day life. Baristas will roast coffee beans on site to create a house blend that offers the full bean-to-brew experience. Beverages include espresso drinks, homemade cold brew, cold nitro brew, nitro tea, matcha, mixed drinks, and beer and wine. Opening in February 2021.
The two-story restaurant and bar is located in the Village Country Club and features a new American menu, craft cocktails and frozen drinks. It will include a poolside restaurant, poolside bar, second level bar, mega terrace, and arcade-style games. Unlike some other restaurants that will be open to the public, Dive In is exclusive to Village Dallas residents. Opening in February 2021.
The unique shop brings together a collection of craft items, homemade treasures and novelty gifts. The goods include candles, fine paper, and pens. The name gives a hint of their goal of creating a stress-free environment that encourages guests to stay for a while. It’s Shopping-as-Therapy: “As soon as you enter, you escape everyday life and are greeted by an atmosphere of ease and leisurely shopping.”
This gourmet place is hyped up as the complex’s first destination restaurant. There will be new American cuisine from Chef Junior Borges based on his Brazilian roots, including live-fire cooking and Brazilian-inspired dishes. Located in the heart of the village, it has a full bar and both indoor and outdoor seating in the shade of live oak trees. It will only be dinner Tuesday through Sunday and is slated to open in February 2021.
Short for Modern Goods, this will be a supermarket and market with a soda fountain and ice cream parlor. They sell wine, beer, healthy snacks, takeaway meals, produce and novelties. Shakes, malts, gourmet lemonades and a kombucha station. It is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and until midnight on weekends. Opening in January 2021.
The two-story, high-volume gastropub / sports bar offers an upscale selection of bar fare – think wings, burgers, and pretzels with beer cheese – with over 30 beers on tap, from local and Texan beers to rare limited-release beers . There will be more than 40 televisions, including televisions on an outdoor patio. Opening in February 2021.
Roundhouse Food Hall
In the Backyard Food Hall, the village chefs’ dishes are put together in a convenient location with stalls such as tacos, wood-fired pizza, burgers, fresh vegetables and desserts.
