Puzzle Game Maquette Adds Bryce Dallas Howard to Cast
Maquette is an upcoming puzzle game from Graceful Decay and Annapurna Interactive, and a new announcement reveals the votes for its two lead roles.
Movie stars working in other industries are commonplace, whether they’re moving to Broadway, writing their own books, or even doing voice overs in video games. The trend continues with a new star-studded casting announcement for modeldeveloped by Graceful Decay and published by Annapurna Interactive.
Graceful Decay’s debut game is a “first-person puzzle game in a recursive world” in which players repeatedly explore 3D environments to progress through the game’s narrative. The game was first announced as a prototype by Hanford Lemoore, the creative director, at the Game Developers Conference 2011. The game’s art style is heavily inspired by Lemoore’s real-world environment in San Francisco, which is evident in the game’s lush surroundings, architecture, and sound design.
Annapurna Interactive announced with a new trailer that the two main characters in Maquette by Bryce Dallas Howard and Seth Gabel will be voiced. The duo voices the romantic couple Kenzie and Michael, who the game’s narrative will focus on, even though the two are not on screen. Film fans will recognize Howard by her roles in Jurassic World, The Help, and Twilight Saga. Gabel is better known for his television roles in shows like Fringe, Salem, and Nip / Tuck.
While Howard was previously blamed for language work in games, he was used for repeating the Jurassic World character by Claire Dearing in games like Jurassic World Evolution and LEGO Jurassic World. Howard had wanted to get into video games for a while, and Maquette presented what she calls an “immersive emotional experience” with the perfect opportunity.
With Leemore announcing that the two actors are there to create the “emotional heartbeat of the story,” players are likely to have high expectations for the game’s narrative. It will be interesting to see how the talents of these two respected artists are integrated, and it is likely that this trend of movie stars in video games will continue, especially if news like Vin Diesel plays a prominent role on ARK 2. Either way, there is only one month left for those interested in this new narrative-centric puzzle game.
model will be released on March 2, 2021 on PS4, PS5 and PC.
