Police – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Two people were found dead in a house in Old East Dallas Thursday afternoon, hours after two officers were wounded when they were shot on a phone call at the house, Chief Eddie Garcia said.

The officers responded to the 5300 block on Bonita Avenue near North Henderson Avenue just after 11 a.m., where the suspect threatened to injure his wife, police said.

Garcia said the officers were shot immediately and two were beaten.

The two officers had injuries to their lower legs and were taken to Baylor University Medical Center in stable condition, according to Mike Mata, president of the Dallas Police Association.

He thanked Dallas Fire-Rescue, who provided police cover to remove the wounded officers from the scene.

At around 1:37 p.m., SWAT officers broke into the house and found a man and woman dead inside, police said.

“I pray for the deceased victim and her family,” Garcia said in a tweet.

Additional details were not immediately available.
