New York developer is working on West Dallas retail

A New York investor and developer who bought a rental community in West Dallas is planning to expand the project to include retail.

Sackman Enterprises acquired the more than 300 Broadstone apartments on West Commerce Street near Fort Worth Avenue in 2019.

The apartment community was built in 2017 by Alliance Residential and is located west of downtown Dallas in an area that is rapidly being redeveloped.

Sackman Enterprises renamed Apartments Ltd West Commerce.

Now, the Manhattan-based real estate company plans to add 13,800 square feet of retail, restaurant, and office space to the rental community, according to the state.

Construction is scheduled to start in January.

Dallas’ Architecture Demarest designed the new space.

Sackman Enterprises is nearly 50 years old with extensive holdings in New York City.

The company has also expanded into projects in the Carolinas, Colorado and Texas.

In Austin, the developer built the 34-story 70 Rainey Condominium Tower overlooking Lady Bird Lake near downtown.

The West Dallas neighborhood, where Sackman Enterprises owns apartments, is rapidly undergoing renovation with new residential and retail buildings. The company’s property is located south of the popular Trinity Groves complex.
