New restaurant-bar rolls out tableside cocktails at Union Dallas

An experienced bar team in Dallas introduces an ambitious new concept. Called Royal 38It is a restaurant and bar from the founders of Hide and will open at The Union Dallas, the mixed-use project on Field Street and Cedar Springs Road.

According to a press release, Royal 38 will open on November 18th. The actual address is 2301 N. Akard St., in the same area as The Henry, TacoLingo, Northern Italy and more.

Hide is the bar that opened in Deep Ellum in 2018 and has won awards for its creative cocktails and upscale comfort foods, including a nomination for co-owner / bartender Scott Jenkins for Best Bartender at CultureMap’s annual Tastemaker Awards in 2019.

Royal 38 will contain the following brands from the Hide team:

  • An extensive menu that they expect will be a crowd puller

  • versatile wine list

  • unique cocktails

They are open for lunch and dinner and offer a menu of snacks, starters, salads, sandwiches, starters and desserts.

Starters include Lobster Corn Fritters with white corn flour, corn, pepper and tartar sauce.

There is a Vegan cereal bowl with champagne vinaigrette, farro, sugar snap peas, radishes, Brussels sprouts, roasted yams, grilled portobellos, small gemstones and pepitas.

The Royal Double Smash Burger fries comes topped with American cheese, bacon and sweet hot cucumber chips.

chicken schnitzel has spaetzle and a hot Beurre Blanc sauce.

They will also have a weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with dishes that include:

  • Rancheros eggs

  • Lobster benedict with potato cake, poached eggs, lemon hollandaise and fried capers

  • Filled French toast with brioche, vanilla cream Anglaise, banana syrup and berries

  • A variety of mimosas and Royal 38 brunch cocktails

Jenkins, the beverage director, has put together the wine list and cocktails, categorized by taste profile, from “Spirited and Brave” to “Comforting and Refreshing”. A creation called The Fistful of Pansies is a spice and gin blend that contains pear brandy and fino sherry. The Frisky Spritz is a low ABV cocktail made from Brut Cava.

But the real news here is that they’ll be offering cocktails in addition to the classic ones Cocktail cart service at the table on demand. With this personal experience, guests can sit by the ring while their cocktail is being prepared.

The space has 4,000 square meters, with two levels, offers restaurants and a fully equipped bar on both levels as well as an outdoor terrace with plenty of socially distant space.

Other steps to ensure the health and safety of guests include social distancing, virus suppression using UV light devices in the AC system, daily wellness checks and mask requirements for staff, and contactless or one-time menus.
