MISD student flown to Dallas hospital with post-COVID complications

MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) – A Bowie Fine Arts Academy student was flown to a Dallas hospital this week suffering from systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) following COVID-19.

According to the family’s GoFundMe page, he was originally rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital with low blood pressure Monday night.

While at MMH, he was tested for COVID-19, which came back negative.

However, the doctors decided to move him to the Cook Children’s Intensive Care Unit at DFW.

The family says doctors there diagnosed him with coronavirus antibodies, as well as kidney failure and inflammation around his heart.

The student’s uncle has to stay with him in the hospital because both of his parents tested positive for COVID-19.

The website states that the student will rest comfortably during treatment.
