Hyatt Grows Thompson Hotels Brand with Opening of Thompson Dallas – Hospitality Net

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) today announced the opening of Thompson Dallas, part of the award-winning lifestyle hotel brand Thompson Hotels. As the first Thompson hotel in Texas, Thompson Dallas is located at 205 N. Akard Street in the historic George-Dahl-designed The National building and has 219 rooms including 52 suites, two penthouse suites and two world-class dining options Destinations: Nine in the National and Catbird. The restoration of The National’s $ 460 million protection, coupled with Thompson Hotels upscale dining, art and entertainment, and groundbreaking design, combine Dallas’ rich heritage from The National with the modern luxuries of Thompson Hotels on the verge of traveling. The hotel’s design is brought to life through a collaboration between Caroline Todd of Todd Interiors and Cindy Zelazny of Interiors Limited. Merriman Anderson Architects are the architects responsible for the development and are also involved in the interior design.

The National & Thompson Dallas design

Originally designed by George Dahl, the architect responsible for iconic Dallas facilities such as the Art Deco buildings of Fair Park and Neiman Marcus Downtown. Historical elements of the National include restored original wooden panels inlaid with brass, and the walls of the ninth floor and the original line 17,555 hand-cut exterior marble slabs from the same quarry as the marble used for the Parthenon. Over $ 2 million in art and unique furniture from Frieze London, PAD London and internationally recognized galleries have been personally selected by interior designer Caroline Todd and are located throughout the property. In addition to housing Thompson Dallas, The National is home to a variety of influential companies and organizations, including Downtown Dallas, Inc.

Thompson Dallas is part of one of the largest adaptive recycling projects in Texas history. Additionally, Thompson Dallas’ spacious rooms average 700 square feet and have walnut and brass headboards to reflect the restoration efforts.

World class culinary
Led by culinary director Jeramie Robinson, formerly Uchi and The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, and restaurant, bar and events director Jonathan Geffrard, a 12-year veteran of the Hillstone Restaurant Group, Thompson Dallas currently has two dining experiences: Catbird and nine in the national.

Located on the hotel’s 10th floor, the Catbird is a full-service restaurant, lounge, and rooftop bar with an emphasis on small plates and curated cocktails. Dallas-born and raised Catbird chef Preston Paine, a graduate of Dallas Jesuit College Preparatory School and Tulane University, returned to Dallas after his last position as chef at the James Beard Award-winning restaurant Elf Madison Park, New York City .

Catbird design elements include deGournay wallpaper, a rooftop grille in a lush courtyard overlooking the pool, a black fireplace made of petrified wood marble, blue agate marble countertops, Patagonian quartzite coffee tables from the BSL Gallery in Paris, France; and consoles as well as seating made of walnut and velvet by the Mexican design duo Ad Hoc.

Located on the ninth floor of Thompson Dallas, Nine at The National offers indoor and outdoor dining, daily breakfast and lunch, as well as the resort-style pool and spa.

Ellbeing & guest facilities
The hotel’s boutique spa and fitness center is expected to open in January 2021 and has five treatment rooms, hot and cold plunge pools, steam and infrared saunas, a nail salon, inflatable bar and yoga lawn, peloton bikes, Pilates reformer Beds and a golf simulator.

The 2-acre indoor and outdoor area on the ninth floor also houses the resort-style pool, outdoor terrace and bar, private cabanas with TVs and lounge seating, as well as a concierge for pets, a care center and daycare for dogs.

Other Thompson Dallas amenities include Ten Dero, a three-chair hair salon run by Derek Ortiz, and a floral design studio and workshop run by Shane Friese, both located in the hotel lobby. Over $ 2 million of art, personally selected by the Todd family, is scattered throughout the property, including David Yarrow photography, paintings by David Bates and JD Miller, sculptures by Raul Mourao, and custom shelves by Uncommon Lighting of Dallas . The Thompson Dallas is adjacent to the National Residences, 324 luxury high-rise apartments.

Meetings & special events
The National Ballroom, originally the lobby on the fourth floor of the First National Bank, features 14,000 square feet of pillarless space, 24 chandeliers, and three walls with floor-to-ceiling 20-foot windows that offer unobstructed views of the city. Unique function rooms and suites with views of the ballroom and roadside events access on the fourth floor and parking allow seamless preparation and execution of events of all sizes.

An impressive opening ceremony
