Hit-and-run kills man on scooter in Old East Dallas

A man riding a scooter died and another person was injured in an attack in Old East Dallas on Saturday night, authorities said.

The collision occurred at 8 p.m. on the 2600 block of Matilda Street, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The 28-year-old victim was operating a scooter when a black GMC SUV hit the scooter and drove away, according to the newspaper.

Dallas Fire-Rescue took the scooter rider to a hospital, where he later died. A 25-year-old woman, who was also riding the scooter, was treated in hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The victims were not identified.

Police said the SUV driver was not found.
