Dallas Weekly Eats: Soiree Coffee Bar
The Soiree Coffee Bar was needed in the West Dallas area. The area has made great strides in rebuilding. Something you don’t see that often in DFW is a black coffee bar. This is an exciting time we are living in.
With the huge surge in support for black businesses this year, it was the perfect timing.
Owners Clive Ryan, LaFree Ryan and Tara McDaniel felt inspired to be a beacon in the black community after tragedy and social tension. After all, West Dallas is mostly black.
Soiree is more than a coffee bar. They also want to create jobs and return to the community.
What can you expect at Soiree? Much more than coffee. The menu includes coffee, drinks and jazz-themed dishes such as the honey and lavender latte Lena Horne, the Nat King, a cognac and amaretto coffee, or a Monte Cristo with turkey, ham and Jack cheese on sourdough with raspberry jam . Don’t worry, you can still get your baked goods like red velvet tea cake, caramel macchiato pound cake, or sweet potato pecan cake.
This is a coffee bar with an edge. The seating is very open, floor to ceiling windows, lots of artwork all around and you won’t get the darkness that most coffee bars have. There is also a cool terrace if you want to be outside. Overall, it feels more social and interactive. Cheers to community building.
