‘Breaking Bad’ themed bar opens Jan. 14 in Dallas, with meth-themed cocktails
On January 14th, a bar called The Whippersnapper on Henderson Avenue in Dallas is going for a getaway. By March 6th, it will turn into a Breaking Bad bar with meth cocktails.
The bar will be closed January 10-13 while the operators work out the new look. The TV show Breaking Bad is about a chemistry teacher named Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston) who starts making and selling methamphetamine.
The owners of The Whippersnapper chose the Breaking Bad theme partly because of the coronavirus pandemic, says co-founder Phil Schanbaum in a statement: “This theme works well considering we always encourage our guests to dress in costumes dress, but this time the mask is required – as in all chemical cooking laboratories. “
Dallas County bars are forced to limit their occupancy to 50% due to the pandemic. Whippersnapper’s Breaking Bad Bar asks guests to stay 90 minutes. If customers are not drinking, masks are required.
The bar does not have a spacious terrace. Doctors do not recommend visiting closed rooms with crowds of other people as COVID-19 cases are on the rise in North Texas.
The bar, usually a happy place, is struggling during the pandemic. The owners were fined in October for opening without a Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) food and beverage certificate. According to TABC records, the bar is now certified for food and drink – and eating is part of the Breaking Bad experience.
The menu is called Los Pollos Hermanos, a reference to the fast food restaurant on the TV show. Customers can purchase honey mustard chicken tenders from the Dallas popup. a fried chicken sandwich on a Hawaiian bun; a double meat cheeseburger called a Heisenburger; Tater tots and fries; and Zapps Chips. The Heisenburger is named after the criminal alter ego of Weiß, Heisenberg.

The signature cocktail is the Blue Sky, the nickname of the stunning crystal Meth White. It’s a mix of tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and blue curacao. It comes topped with rock candy. Got it?
The Walter White Cocktail is Knob Creek Bourbon with Angostura bitters, sugar and an orange peel.
Customers can also shoot down a $ 3 rocket fuel: a JELL-O shot of vodka and Blueberry Red Bull. Heyo.
The Captain Cook – named after Jesse Pinkman’s character on the show – is a trippy drink made from funyun and jalapeño-infused vodka (!), Simple pineapple syrup, pineapple juice, and lemon juice.
The Whippersnapper – formerly The Slip Inn, for those with a good memory – is a funky bar that has had multiple personalities over the years. It became a hugely popular Harry Potter-themed pop-up bar in 2019. It also has a previous life as a limited-time family guy bar called The Drunken Clam. In early 2020, the owners paid tribute to the office for a few weeks.
The Whippersnapper is located on McMillan Ave. 1806 in Dallas. The Breaking Bad popup is expected to appear from January 14th to March 6th, 2021.
