Austin FC, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo FC players launch winter storm relief funds
The Austin FC, Dallas FC and Houston Dynamo FC players have raised funds to help the Texans as residents continue to have no electricity, heat, food or shelter due to a winter storm.
Players from the expansion team 2021 founded a GoFundMe. Proceeds will go to supporting the club’s 4ATX Foundation for the Austin Area Urban League, which serves African American and underserved residents of the Austin area. Players have set a goal of $ 15,000 for the fundraiser and hit over $ 12,500 as of Thursday morning.
“We just thought it was the right thing to do,” said the players of a message the club posted on Twitter. “Many people in the city currently have no electricity, gas, water or food. And they need help. Go Fund Me was the best and fastest way for us to help. We come from all over the world and we come from all over the world just met, but we all felt the same and felt the same urge to help, and although our group is new to Austin, we’ve had the community hugging us since we arrived.
“When we experienced this winter storm and saw the number of people who needed help, we wanted to find a way to get the best help. Community is a core value to our group and we strive to help those who are in welcomed our new home. “

Houston’s fundraiser was started in coordination with the NWSL’s Houston Dash. All donations will be split between Mutual Aid Houston, Kids Meals Houston and The Houston Food Bank.

The fundraiser for FC Dallas was initiated by Tanner Tessmann in collaboration with the FC Dallas Foundation. Your GoFundMe has a goal of $ 10,000.
“My team-mates from FC Dallas and I know how badly everyone in Texas has been hit by the winter storms in recent days,” said Tessman. “We want to do our part and support our community in helping people in need to get through these difficult times. Millions of Texas residents had been without electricity or heat since the beginning of the week when severe winter weather brought the state’s electricity grid to a standstill. An estimated three million households and businesses are affected and 31 people have been killed in incidents related to the storm.
