Public transportation for FIFA World Cup in North Texas running smoothly, officials say

Groups in charge of organizing the public transportation plan for FIFA World Cup matches say so far, everything has gone smoothly.FIFA World Cup public transit in North TexasThe North Texas FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee and the North Central Texas Council of Governments held a press conference Tuesday to give an update on how their public transit plan for the World Cup has performed so far.The official plan involves taking the Trinity Railway Express to the CentrePort Station south of DFW Airport, then taking a bus to a parking lot north of Dallas Stadium.Officials said that on average, 5,000 to 6,000 fans are using their public transportation plan going to and from matches.80% of riders take the TRE east, while 20% come to CentrePort Station from the west.Michael Morris, Director of Transportation for the NCTCG, says that fans who arrive early and stay late at venues like Texas Live! in Arlington have eased congestion on the public transit system."They're walking up through the

Dallas weather: Severe Thunderstorm Watch ended early

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch in North Texas has ended. The watch area had been expanded to include the entire Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and surrounding counties. The watch was originally scheduled to end at 10 p.m. CT, but was ended early.Severe weather threats remain in play in areas Northeast of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.Tuesday ForecastScattered showers and thunderstorms will continue through the evening, with the greatest coverage north of Highway 380 and along the Red River. Japan fans use Irving as base camp for World Cup travels; thousands rally in Dallas before Sweden match

Tomorrow, Japan will take on Sweden at Dallas Stadium in their final group stage match of this year's FIFA World Cup.One group of international fans who will be at that game have a base camp at an Irving rental home as they've been traveling North America to watch the Samurai Blue play.They're a few of many Japanese fans in North Texas for this year's World Cup.
