A North Texas student is dead after a crash on Wednesday in Denton County.The single-vehicle crash happened on FM 1173 in Krum, just northwest of Denton.Denton Police Department said a female driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. A male passenger died at the hospital. And another female passenger was treated at the hospital and released.Investigators said all three were minors.Police did not release the name or age of the juvenile who died.They also said they are still investigating the cause of the crash.Krum ISD confirmed the victim was a student in the district."Our hearts are with the student's family, friends, classmates, and everyone affected by this unimaginable loss. On behalf of the entire Krum ISD community, we extend our deepest condolences and ask that you keep the family in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time," the district said in a post on social media.Krum ISD will offer counseling services for students and staff in the coming days.

Richardson ISD has a new policy in place to limit screen time during the school day.Superintendent Tabitha Branum said the district’s new passive screen time policy means students will have less time on screens and more time putting pen to paper.There will be no more screen time rewards for good behavior or during recess.The time limit on devices for students in pre-K and kindergarten is 10 to 15 minutes in a single session.First through fourth graders can be on school-issued screens for 15 to 20 minutes in chunks. Fifth and sixth graders can have 20 to 30 minutes also spread across the day. And then seventh through twelve graders will get 15 to 20 minutes per class period.The district’s YouTube ban will also extend to secondary campuses this year.Superintendent Branum is hoping to make new students feel welcome despite the change.
