Garland police search for hit-and-run driver who injured 12-year-old

Garland police are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a 12-year-old boy with significant injuries on Saturday morning.Garland crosswalk crashThe boy was crossing a marked crosswalk at North Garland Avenue and Apollo Road at about 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, while riding an electric scooter, when he was struck by a white utility-style work truck, according to Garland police.The truck had four doors and storage compartments along the sides of its bed, according to police. Investigators said the driver may be a heavy-set man with a short buzz-cut hairstyle.Driver briefly stopped before fleeingPolice said the driver briefly stopped after the crash before leaving southbound on North Garland Avenue.
