Following a month of hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup, North Texas leaders are celebrating the region's execution of the event and looking toward securing future major international bids.World Cup in DallasNorth Texas served as a key location for the tournament, hosting nine matches over 31 days.FIFA announced this week that more than 630,000 fans attended the region's nine matches, while millions more visited the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex during the tournament. Ahead of the tournament, transportation and public safety were top concerns for organizers. Despite those initial concerns, transit operations ran smoothly, and local police departments in Arlington and Dallas reported only a handful of arrests with no major crime incidents.Initial projections estimated a $2 billion economic impact for the local region. ICE says a TCU student was deported this month after a June arrest in Arlington.TCU student deported20-year-old Luis Andrade was deported by ICE to El Salvador on July 21, the agency confirmed to FOX 4.Andrade was deported less than a month after he was arrested in Arlington for public lewdness and resisting arrest. Court documents say Andrade attempted to elude a police vehicle and "intentionally or knowingly [made] an offensive gesture."Andrade accepted a plea deal for a Class C misdemeanor.Federal officials say he was taken into ICE custody on July 10 and spent 11 days in ICE detention before his deportation.ICE tells FOX 4 that Andrade entered the United States in 2009 when he was three-years-old. An immigration judge ordered his removal in March 2010."Attending school in the United States does not confer lawful immigration status.
