Tonight's Mexico vs. Ecuador match drew another large crowd to FIFA Fan Festival Dallas and World Cup watch parties across North Texas.Mexico defeated Ecuador 2-0 in their Round of 32 World Cup match, with Mexico earning their first knockout stage win in the tournament since 1986.Hours before the Mexico vs. Ecuador knockout stage match began, fans piled into FIFA Fan Festival Dallas in Fair Park. The event is once again sold out, the third time the festival has sold out for a Mexico match.Fans who spoke to FOX 4 said they were confident in Mexico's chances."Seeing our team and how good we are, we got so much good talent now," Jocelyn, a Mexico fan, told FOX 4's Amelia Jones. "I don't want to see it go to waste."One Mexico fan drove down from Oklahoma to attend the watch party at Fair Park.Not to be deterred, there were a few Ecuador fans seen prior to the match at Fan Fest.Is Ecuador fan Jesus-David Cerdo intimidated by being surrounded by Mexico fans? A Mexican national has been charged with operating a drone without proper authorization over Dallas Stadium during the FIFA World Cup.Cristobal Torres Alvarez, 40, was charged with operating as an airman without an airman's certificate.Authorities said Alvarez flew an unregistered DJI Mini 4 over Dallas Stadium while a temporary flight restriction was in place.To fly a drone legally in restricted airspace, several requirements must be met, including proper permitting and registering the drone with the Federal Aviation Administration.‘No-fly zone’ in place during World Cup gamesFederal authorities said a "no-fly zone" is in place around Dallas Stadium and Dallas Fan Fest for three hours prior and after each match.In the five games held at Dallas Stadium, more than 70 drones have been seized."The FIFA World Cup 2026 continues to be a success in North Texas.
