Annapurna puzzler Maquette will star Bryce Dallas Howard and debut next month
Maquette, a beautiful puzzle game from Annapurna Interactive, has set a release date for March 2nd and has revealed its two stars: actors Bryce Dallas Howard and Seth Gabel. Check out the cast trailer and read on for me.
Howard (Jurassic World, Black Mirror) and Gabel (Fringe, Salem) play the fictional lovers Kenzie and Michael who look back on their relationship. In the first person puzzle game, you navigate through their memories by exploring worlds within worlds that are frankly breathtaking. Called a “recursive puzzle game”, Maquette takes you through chapters of the love story of Kenzie and Michael in different settings that tell a story of love and loss. Expect to cry tears of both frustration and sadness.
“I’ve wanted to get into video games for years because games add something to storytelling that movies and literature don’t: they encourage people to play an active role in the story,” says Bryce Dallas Howard. “When I was offered the opportunity to work on Maquette with Annapurna, I was very excited to be immersed in this haunting emotional experience. What I love about this game is that even though our voices will guide you through the narrative, you are still the one who has to figure out how to solve the puzzles to end the story. And because the game is recursive, there are infinite ways the pieces can come together. “
The game was inspired by San Francisco, with architecture that reminds you of the city, dreamy urban vibe, and music that makes you feel like you’re walking around the Bay Area. I had the chance to try it out at PAX East last year – the graphics are stunning and the puzzles are interactive and engaging. Maquette will be released on March 2nd via Steam on PS4, PS5 and PC.
