There were 20 people displaced as a result of a 3 alarm fire in a residential building in northeast Dallas.

Dallas Fire-Rescue said the fire happened just after 3 p.m. at the LaVita apartment complex on Lovers Lane

The fire started on the second floor before the flames spread to the attic.

Seven units in the affected building had combinations of fire, smoke and water damage.

Fortunatly nobody was hurt.

The managers of the apartment complex and the Red Cross are trying to find places for the displaced.

“They hate to see people lose something in a fire at any time of the year, but when the conditions are what they are, given the temperatures we are exposed to, it gets tougher,” said Jason Evans of Dallas Fire rescue.

Evans said the fire was put out pretty quickly but wasn’t declared extinguished until two hours later.

More than 70 firefighters responded to put out the fire.
